Rest of whiskey glaze
- one cup of apple juice
- Teriyaki sauce, 1/4 cup
- 1 tablespoon of low-sodium soy sauce is recommended.

400°F oven temperature. Keep the garlic head together while you remove any loose paper.
Slice off the top half of the entire head to reveal the cloves’ tops. Place the garlic on a piece of foil, then liberally spray olive oil, salt, and pepper over the exposed cloves.
Garlic is wrapped in foil, placed in a baking dish, and baked for 40 to 50 minutes. Place aside until it is safe to handle.
Make the glaze
In a medium saucepan, combine the pineapple juice, water, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Heat over MED HIGH heat. When the mixture is just beginning to boil, reduce the heat to LOW and stir the mixture occasionally.
Roasted garlic cloves should be squeezed out into a small basin and mashed until smooth. You can also add the garlic cloves to the pan and mash them with a whisk, but I’ve noticed that this method doesn’t provide as smooth of a garlic flavor.
Include lemon juice, cayenne pepper, white onion, whiskey, and crushed pineapple. After combining, adjust the heat as necessary to maintain a steady simmer for the sauce.
Allow sauce to boil for 45 to 50 minutes, or until it has almost completely reduced and reached a syrupy consistency. Watch it closely to prevent a boil-over. Remember that as it cools, the sauce will become slightly thicker.

Is there alcohol in Friday’s Jack Daniels sauce?
The Jack Daniel’s brand of barbecue sauces has played a significant role in the transformation of whiskey-based barbecue sauces from a specialty item available at distillery gift shops to a supermarket mainstay. The problem is that a barbecue sauce like the one I’m reviewing here doesn’t actually include any Tennessee whiskey; it simply bears the moniker Jack Daniel’s.
You don’t trust me? Look at the label on the back. Natural and artificial Jack Daniel’s flavorings—whatever that means—can be found under ingredients. There is a clear declaration that the sauce doesn’t include alcohol behind that list. Since Heinz is the firm that really manufactures it, Original No. 7 barbecue sauce is essentially Heinz barbecue sauce.
It tastes similar to food that might also be produced by Kraft or Heinz. The Original No. 7 barbecue sauce is a little smokier and tangier than the typical brand-name sauce, but it isn’t even near the top of that scale, much less a high-end item produced with genuine whiskey. Do not be misled by the label’s name into believing differently.
Which BBQ sauce compares favorably to Jack Daniels?
Similar to Jack Daniel’s, Wild Turkey requires little introduction because it is a standard in many public and private bars. Its barbecue branch is regarded as a “genuine southern BBQ sauce. Tomato paste, corn syrup solids, vinegar, molasses, sugar, wild turkey bourbon, modified food starch, spice, salt, lemon juice, mustard flour, dehydrated onion, garlic, and sodium benzoate are some of the ingredients in it.
What exactly is Jack’s delicious sauce?
A crispy-fried spicy chicken filet, Jack’s Good Good Sauce, and pickle chips are all included in the Spicy Cluck Sandwich from Jack in the Box.
Jack in the Box increased the filet’s size and improved its crispness since the Cluck Sandwich was initially offered in 2020. Both the spicy and non-spicy versions of the filet attest to this. My specific filet had a noticeable thickness and a wide and long profile for bun covering. It was wet rather than juicy within and coated by a reasonably thick crust with a rather even, sponge-like consistency to it.
The filet’s peppery spice provided a satisfying kick that persisted for a while. It was mildly spicy, not as hot as their Spicy Chicken Strips, but still nice. Beyond the heat, the filet had a delicate seasoning without any stand-out spices.
Similar to the Good Good Sauce on the normal Cluck Sandwich, it gave a fantastic blend of creamy richness with savory, sweet, and acidic accents to the basic heat of the chicken filet.
The pickle chips were larger and crinkle-cut, but they still had a sloppy limpness and the extremely salty and acidic flavors of your standard fast food pickles.
The brioche bun has a bit more taste and richness than a basic bun while still being soft and durable.
Overall, Jack in the Box’s Spicy Cluck Sandwich did quite well, but it falls short of Popeyes’ or Burger King’s versions in terms of flavor, freshness, and serving size when compared to the recent onslaught of new fast food fried chicken sandwiches. It is one of the few fast food chicken sandwiches that offers a spicy filet, but it is still a good effort (most just go with a spicy sauce or seasoning).

A condiment known as Jack’s Secret Sauce—previously known simply as “secret sauce”—is used in several Jack in the Box foods, most notably the Bonus Jack. It was also present in the Jumbo Jack up until May 1999, when ketchup took its place.

With the help of a funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a team of researchers marinated, flamed, baked, and boiled a range of meals with several types of alcohol to find out more. The results showed that after cooking, 4 to 95% of the alcohol was still present.

The amount of alcohol maintained in the recipe is influenced by the other ingredients. The amount of alcohol in the finished dish can be increased, for instance, by adding bread crumbs to scallops cooked in wine sauce to stop part of the alcohol from evaporating.

Additionally, since stirring during cooking also encourages evaporation, recipes that call for it typically include less alcohol.

Diane, cherry jubilee, and other alcoholic recipes could still include 75% of the alcohol.
Without being cooked, marinades can retain up to 70% of the additional alcohol.
When baked items and meats are cooked for 25 minutes without stirring, 45 percent of the alcohol is retained.
The lowest concentrations are typically seen in stews and other foods that simmer for two and a half hours, although they still retain around 5% of the alcohol.
- The lesson learned: For people in recovery, expectant or nursing mothers, and those who abstain from alcohol for moral, medical, or other reasons, not all of the alcohol does not burn off. Recipes for the holidays that call for alcohol may need to be avoided. Additionally, some sauces may be having a bigger impact on our blood alcohol levels than we are aware of for those of us celebrating the holiday.
