Learn how to improve the flavor of premade alfredo sauce for times when you don’t have the time or just want to use up ingredients in your cupboard. Choose one or more of the suggestions below, or use all of them if you choose.

Start by cooking either the chicken or the shrimp if you’re making Alfredo. The night before, I prefer to defrost shrimp in the refrigerator, then sauté them in garlic, pepper, and olive oil. When using chicken, I dice it and sauté it with garlic, pepper, and olive oil. Take out the chicken or shrimp, then begin the sauce.

Garlic cloves that have been minced and butter added to the pan. Pour your sauce jar in when it has melted. After adding the milk, shake the jar vigorously. If more milk is desired, add an additional 1/4 cup after the first 1/4 cup.

The jar should be poured into the pan along with the spices. Get your noodles ready right now.

Reintroduce the chicken or shrimp to the pan three minutes before the noodles have finished cooking.

How may store-bought Alfredo sauce be thickened?

First, cream cheese

When the cream cheese is smooth, cube it and stir it into the Alfredo Sauce in a pot over heat. Be patient as it could take a short while for the cream cheese to melt and become creamy. Unless you don’t mind a heavier cream cheese flavor, start out with a small amount at a time.

Parmesan cheese, 2.

Add some freshly grated Parmesan cheese of a high caliber to the sauce. Your best bet in this case is freshly grated full-fat Parmesan cheese. I enjoy purchasing a large block of Parmesan from Costco and grating it by hand. If you understand what I mean, it works MUCH better than anything you would find already grated in the spaghetti section of the grocery store shelf.

3. Diced Cheese

It can also be effective to whisk in some high-quality cheese that you have grated yourself. If necessary, you could utilize pre-shredded meat, but pre-shredded meat doesn’t often melt well in sauces, so stick with a name brand. If possible, use a box grater or food processor to shred your own cheese. Depending on your preferences, you should try mozzarella, provolone, or even white cheddar.

4. Cream of Heavy

In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk a small amount of heavy cream into the sauce and cook until it simmers or thickens slightly. Though it can take a lot of cream to thicken a lot of sauce, it’s not always the best solution.

Fifth, cornstarch (or Arrowroot)

Make a slurry by combining a little amount of cornstarch with some cold water (or another liquid) in a small bowl. Pour the slurry into the boiling sauce in a skillet over medium-high heat and stir slowly. Until the spicy sauce has the correct thickness, slowly whisk in the slurry.

6. Flour

In a small bowl, combine some flour with a little water and whisk until smooth, just as you would with cornstarch. While the sauce is cooking in a pan, gradually whisk the flour mixture into the sauce.

Seven. Egg yolks

Be careful with this one so your sauce doesn’t contain scrambled eggs! In a small bowl, place one or more egg yolks (or more, depending on how much sauce you have…). Add a little spicy sauce to the eggs while you whisk them. More hot sauce should be whisked into the yolks until they have absorbed a sizable amount of the sauce and the eggs are heated. The yolks are then incorporated into the spicy sauce-filled skillet. You won’t get smooth curdled eggs if you simply whisk cold egg yolks into hot sauce. Done that, been there, not good.

8. Produce

You read that correctly; Some veggies can be pureed and then added to the sauce. Cauliflower that has been cooked and pureed (like by steaming…) would be fantastic! So long as you don’t mind the flavor of vegetables in your sauce.

9. Roux

Over medium heat, melt some butter; after it has melted, stir in the same amount of flour. Butter and flour should be smoothed out by whisking. In a pan over medium heat, whisk a small amount of the roux into the sauce that is simmering.

Similar to the roux, add equal quantities of softened butter and flour in a small bowl and stir until the mixture resembles paste. To thicken a simmering sauce, whisk in a small amount at a time.

Which one do I prefer then? If I had to choose one, I would start by trying to add more grated Parmesan cheese. I think it would taste the nicest and be quick and simple.

For a lot of households, one jar of spaghetti sauce isn’t nearly enough to coat a pound of pasta. Particularly if your family adores sauce, this is true!

There will be plenty more to get your creative juices flowing, and maybe you’ll be motivated to come up with a unique and delectable pasta sauce recipe of your own. For those of you who are pressed for time, let’s start with our simplest suggestions (i.e. for those of you who are hangry).

Put some smashed tomatoes in a can. Here, tomato sauce, garlic- or Italian-seasoned tomatoes, and plain tomatoes all work well. To each their own, but we don’t advise combining tomatoes with herbs and spices of the Mexican variety. You might need to add more herbs and spices if you simply add tomato sauce to the spaghetti sauce. You’ll likely need additional spice because tomato sauce is tasteless on its own.

Tomato paste and pasta water are added. Who among us doesn’t have a spare can of tomato paste in their cabinet? The pasta water, which increases volume, will be balanced off by this tasty tomato concentrate. When you’re done, if the sauce tastes a little bland (has a lot of tomato flavor), add some dried herbs or spices. One of our favorite suggestions for extending pasta sauce is this one.

Add ground beef, chicken, turkey, or Italian sausage. Before include any of these meats in your sauce, make sure to fully cook all of them. You will likely need to add seasoning as well, unless you are using the sausage. A salt and an Italian herb blend would work. Also nice would be fresh garlic or basil!

How to Stretch Alfredo Sauce

Cooking-wise, jarred Alfredo sauce is a little bit more of a problem. Similar to spaghetti sauce, a meal can be expanded by adding a variety of delectable proteins and veggies. Contrary to spaghetti sauce, producing more of the sauce requires more effort than simply adding a can of crushed tomatoes. We do, however, have some answers! Here are some clever suggestions that we believe you and your family will like.

Warm Alfredo sauce may be given a little of half and half or cream. To ensure that all of the sauce has been removed, you can add swirl in some water or half-and-half.

Cook some vegetables! With Alfredo sauce, vegetables such as asparagus, mushrooms, broccoli, and onions taste fantastic. Stir them into the warm spaghetti sauce after roasting them in the oven until they are browned and fork tender.

Construct a bechamel sauce. In a sauce pan, mix 1 oz. butter and 1 oz. flour. The mixture needs to be heated and stirred for around 5 minutes. Add 1 cup of milk gradually while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Cook the ingredients until it thickens over low heat. To stretch your Alfredo sauce, include your jar of sauce along with some salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.

Spaghetti is frequently a staple on the weekly dinner menu that my partner and I create. This is especially true if the week is busy and we need something quite straightforward (yet still delicious! ), or if the rent is due that week.

We always use canned pasta sauce when making spaghetti sauce. We’ve gone through many different phases with food (tomato and basil, I’m looking at you!) but right now, arrabbiata is a favorite since it’s a little bit spicy and very tasty.

We saute chopped onion, green peppers, mushrooms, and freshly minced garlic in olive oil until everything is mostly cooked and smelling delicious before adding it to the sauce. Our pre-made pasta sauce is then added, and everything is simmered until heated through. Alternatively, until the pasta is done cooking (why is it so simple to forget to start the pasta?). Serve with plenty of garlic bread topped with butter and your favorite pasta! Yum!

1. Prepare your pasta as directed on the packet.

2. In a big saute pan, heat the olive oil while the pasta is boiling. 5 minutes later, add the vegetables and boil them while stirring occasionally. The onions and peppers should be tender, and the garlic should be fragrant.

3. Fill the sautee pan with the entire jar of spaghetti sauce. Combine all of the ingredients.

4. Simmer spaghetti sauce for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, to ensure that everything is well heated.

5. Present with garlic bread and noodles. Enjoy!
