Sprague Hill Even before leaving home, customers would be wise to browse the extensive menu offered by Gator’s Dockside, one of Spring Hill’s newest and roomiest eateries.
Franchisee Jerry Roberts stated, “We do a lot of wings,” in addition to 18 “gatorizers,” 14 entrees, 23 burgers and sandwiches, seven salads with 11 dressings, and 14 sides.
There are 20 sauces available for chicken wings, ranging from the most popular, Gator’s Own Scooter, to 4-Alarm Suicide. Many are invented on the spot.
Roberts, who over the course of 13 years has operated five Gator’s restaurants from his hometown of Gainesville south to Tampa, claimed that “our wings are fresh, which is one of the unique things about us.”
According to Roberts, 99 percent of other wing restaurants serve the most popular dish of poultry directly from the fryer.
He explained, “Ours are first deep fried, then tossed in sauce, and last grilled. These are not sloppy; it sears in the flavor.
Contains a mixture of honey and garlic, the scooter sauce
Very slick, he remarked. Garlic Parmesan is Roberts’ personal favorite. He acknowledged that the most recent flavor—peanut butter and jelly—gives him pause, but it’s kid-friendly.
Roberts continued, “Although most people think of us as a wing restaurant, we also sell a ton of burgers, entrée salads, and steaks. The ahi tuna is very fantastic. We’ve run a rib promotion for the past couple of years.”
Only one item bearing the gator’s name—the hand-battered gator tail gatorizer—is offered on the menu for the eatery. The gator served at the restaurant is farm-raised, but because there is a limited quantity, it is expensive.
Other than that, Roberts said, reviews on social media for the “Wings, Ribs, Seafood & Sports” eatery since it debuted on Feb. 3 have been overwhelmingly good.
With seating for 50 people on a 1,500 square foot covered patio attached to the southern end of Lakewood Plaza, outdoor dining at the restaurant adds to its charm. Smoking is allowed outside. 180 people can be seated inside the restaurant’s 4,800 square feet.
Big-screen TVs that are elevated ensure that diners can watch sports broadcasts without even turning their heads.
Mary Trinosky, a customer, exclaimed, “The service here is extremely good,” saying that she and her husband, Tom, had left a nearby restaurant after waiting for 15 minutes without being attended to. In less than 15 minutes, they were at Gator’s devouring large burgers.
For the more than 50 new workers, “we brought in a number of trainers,” Roberts added. “Additionally, we dispatched early hires to other eateries (for training). Four managers were transferred here from different places, and we also hired a few managers locally.”
Gators’ personal scooter is what?
Chicken wings are on menus of restaurants serving a variety of cuisines and environments, making them conceivably one of America’s favorite foods. But not every wing is created equal.
As a two-time winner of the Best Wings award from our readers, Gators Dockside keeps eclipsing the opposition. The preparedness is probably the key.
Fresh wings are deep-fried, covered in sauce, and then grilled to intensify the flavor at Gator’s Dockside. As a result, the wings are not as oily or sloppy as those that are cooked directly in an industrial fryer and have a beautiful smoky sear to them.
Gator’s Dockside is aware that there is no one size fits all when it comes to wing flavors. So they provide guests with more than 20 different types of wing sauce. The most popular wing sauce is Gator’s Own Scooter, a mildly sweet, garlicky hot sauce, but teenagers prefer Peanut Butter and Jelly.
If you have a raging appetite, you should go to Gator’s Dockside on a Monday night and eat as many conventional wings as you want. You won’t want to say “uncle” after tasting their wonderfully balanced sauce and crispy skin, so prepare to stay for a while.
How long are chicken wings cooked for?
Bake chicken wings at a high temperature while cooking them on a rack to get them extra crispy. The wings will roast rather than steam if they are cooked on a rack because the heat will be distributed evenly around them and any moisture generated will drip away.
Cooking chicken wings until they are crispy and golden brown is recommended. This will bake at 400 degrees F for around 45 minutes. Watch the wings carefully to ensure sure the seasoning doesn’t burn or become black.
In the oven, chicken wings shouldn’t be covered. If the wings are covered, they will simmer rather than becoming crispy and browned.
Although saucing the wings is not called for in this recipe, you might add sauce by brushing it on during the final five minutes of roasting or right after the wings are taken out of the oven. The sauce may burn if it is added too soon.

The Huy Fong Chili Garlic sauce did not lose its heat after we added it to cooked chicken and let it continue to cook for a while.
My house smelled strongly of pasty sauce when the chunky sauce landed on the heated skillet. The aroma of the sauce was still sweet and spicy, but it was much more intense and overpowering, in my opinion.
I thought the sauce was excellent on the chicken in very little amounts, but it needs other tastes to complete the flavor to make it better. Even though it was a delicious sauce, the chicken’s appearance with just the sauce was a touch too overpowering. I was only able to handle a small portion at once.
This sauce needs extra ingredients to offset the spicy flavor if you’re planning to cook with it. For recipes, I advise visiting the Huy Fong website.
It is available in several sizes. However, the 8 oz bottle only costs $4.48. That’s actually not too horrible. Of course, the cost will differ based on where you buy the sauce.
