If you’ve seen Reddi-new wip’s dairy-free whipped creams all over the internet, you’re probably as excited to test them as we were. Both of the new kinds are gluten-free and dairy-free, since they are created with almond milk and coconut milk, respectively (but not veganmore on that later).

We’ve used it as a topping and in dishes, including dairy-free peppermint white chocolate mochas and dairy-free trifles. CocoWhip is available frozen in the United States and Canada.

Truwhip Vegan

Truwhip Vegan is created without any dairy components and comes in a teal-colored tub, unlike the other Truwhip products (which used to have a “non-dairy” label but contain a small amount of milk protein). If you don’t like coconut, this is a terrific alternative, but it does include soy protein, which may be a problem for some people. Truwhip Vegan is available frozen in the United States and Canada.

Plant-Based Non-Dairy Whipped Topping

This is most likely Truwhip Vegan in a Whole Foods container. Don’t be fooled by the “non-dairy” label. This product is kosher pareve and vegan-friendly, as it contains no dairy components. It’s made with the same ingredients as Truwhip Vegan, so it’s free of coconut but not of soy. In the United States, Whole Foods stores sell this dairy-free whip in tubs.

Dairy-Free Spray Whips (Canisters)

This is the market for dairy-free whipped topping that is increasing the fastest. In addition, a number of the vegan spray whip products listed below are available in a variety of countries. Spray whip canisters are frequently sold chilled. They must be kept chilled, however some dairy-free types require particular handling. Always read the labels!

Reddi-Wip

They do, however, have a certified vegan whipped cream that has been gaining popularity. It’s marketed chilled throughout the United States and Canada.

Trader Joe’s Sweet Rose Coconut Whipped Topping (different packaging!)

Trader Joe’s has a dairy-free whip that comes and goes. The “Sweet Rose” brand of coconut whipped topping was its most recent incarnation. It looks almost identical to the Gay Lea jar shown above, and it contains the same chemicals. I’m curious as to who makes it. Because I don’t live near a Trader Joe’s, I don’t have a recent image. Please leave a comment if you have one and are prepared to share it! This product is only available at Trader Joe’s in the United States.

Oat-Based Whipped Topping

In a spray canister, this is Whole Foods’ “generic” whipped topping. They used to manufacture a coconut whip canister, but this oat-based one has taken its place. This recipe is truly free of coconut, soy, and even pea protein. In today’s non-dairy world, that’s a hard trifecta! The 365 brand is only available at Whole Foods and Amazon. And it’s possible that this product will only be sold in the United States.

Soyatoo Soy Whip & Rice Whip Toppings

Tofutown (a German firm) created the Soyatoo brand of Soy Whip and soy-free Rice Whip toppings long before any of the other brands mentioned. Of course, they’re available in Germany, but the company also exports them. In the United States, the United Kingdom, or other nations, you might come across one of these in your local supermarket or natural food store. Vegan Essentials usually has this brand in stock for online orders in the United States.

Kineret Whipped Topping

The kosher manufacturer Kayco makes this spray whip, which is not only dairy-free but also certified kosher parve. Jeaneth G. was kind enough to provide the photographs below, along with the ingredient list. It is sold in the refrigerated department of supermarkets in the United States, yet it is an Italian product.

The vegan Coconut On Top product does not contain dairy, unlike the majority of their On Top products.

Soyatoo Soy and Rice Topping Creams

Tofutown also sells cartons that are ready to whip. Soyatoo comes in three flavors: Rice Whip, Soy Whip, and Cocoa Whip. These shelf-stable cartons are available in natural food stores and specialty internet sites throughout the United States and Europe.

There are more vegan kosher brands available at kosher markets and certain mainstream supermarkets. They’re commonly offered in cartons as “non-dairy whipped topping,” but they don’t include any dairy components, are kosher pareve/parve, and are frequently kosher for Passover. Kineret, Haddar, B’gan, and Unger’s are a few that we’ve discovered (also in the U.K.).

Unfortunately for those people, Kraft Foods has announced an ingredient change for the Original Cool Whip. “Kraft Foods would like you to know that it recently changed the recipe for the Original variety of Cool Whip whipped topping so that it now contains additional milk ingredients, including cream,” the company said. This means the new version will have lactose in it. TruWhip, which appears to be lactose-free (and has a better ingredient list overall), but does contain casein, may be a better option.
