Is it okay to drink almond or coconut milk on the Whole30?

For a variety of reasons, finding Whole30 certified Coconut Milk Brands can be difficult. You’ll need to look for one that doesn’t contain any sugars or carrageenan, as these two compounds are found in the majority of coconut milk brands.

This blog post is totally about drinking coconut milk, not the canned coconut milk that we use in many dishes in place of cream (that blog post will be coming soon!). If you’re looking for another option, my Whole30 Approved Almond Milk post is one of the most popular on my site, and it’s jam-packed with useful information!

What is the official rule when it comes to Whole30 Approved Coconut Milk?

If the ingredients in your coconut milk are Whole30 compliant, then your coconut milk is Whole30 compliant as well.

Here’s a “Tip” on almond milk from my favorite Whole30 book, simply titled “The Whole30,” which I believe applies here.

Tip: In general, nuts and seeds aren’t the healthiest fats, and drinking your meal is always less healthful than eating it. So, even if you produce your own almond milk, we’d rather you just consume the almonds every now and then!

I believe the same advice applies here as well. Eating your food is always preferable than drinking it for a variety of reasons, including satiety and a few more. I believe that eating a coconut instead of drinking almond milk has the same effect. But, because there may be moments when we want to relax with a glass of coconut milk, I’ve compiled a list of Whole30 Approved Coconut Milk Brands and Where to Find Them to make it as simple as possible for you!

What to Look For to find Whole30 Compliant Coconut Milk Brands

We’re aiming for the fewest number of ingredients imaginable! Coconut Milk that is Whole30 Compliant will be labeled as such “It’s unsweetened.” Some are also referred to as “Also “carrageenan-free.”

What to Avoid in Coconut Milk

All sweeteners (look in the ingredients, not the nutrition label), carrageenan, soy lecithin, and sulfites are to be avoided.

Natural Flavors, Niacin, Potassium Chloride, Riboflavin, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Nitrite, Sodium Nitrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Zinc Gluconate, Acacia Inulin, Agave Inulin, Calcium Carbonate, Acacia Gum, Gellan Gum, Guar Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Nitrite, Sodium Nit

Is almond butter a Whole30 approved food?

Yes, almond butter is a Whole30 approved food. During the Whole30 regimen, almond butter is a great and delicious alternative to peanut butter.

Almond butter is the holy grail of the Whole30, and I swear I’ve seen individuals live Whole30 purely on Almond Butter (which we don’t advocate). People’s love for almond butter is insane, and I’m a little afraid of you just kidding!

Here’s how it works. The whole point of the Whole30 is to stay as near to the source as possible. That is to say, the less processing that is done, the better. Fresh vegetables and locally sourced meats are perfect! A typical Whole30 meal includes a fistful of protein, a few vegetables, and some healthy fats. This keeps you full and prevents you from snacking.

So, where does almond butter come into the Whole30 diet if it isn’t a snack-heavy diet? You can consume it as an intentional fat source during a meal or as a pre-workout snack, but you can’t eat an entire meal of almond butter, no matter how much you want to.

If you’re starting Whole30 with an addictive peanut butter habit, it might be preferable to try to break it first before switching to almond butter.

Remember that the Whole30 emphasizes the importance of balance. The concept of forming new, healthy behaviors!

Is there any almond milk that is free of carrageenan?

One of the most popular nut-based milk replacements is almond milk. Some brands, however, thicken with carrageenan. Silk Unsweetened Original Almond Milk is devoid of carrageenan and high in protein. This almond milk substitute can be used in smoothies, cereal, baking, tea or coffee, and even straight from a glass, just like cow’s milk. Silk Unsweetened Original Almond Milk is cholesterol and saturated fat free, in addition to being healthful and nutritious. $62.29. This bulk bundle contains two 6-packs of 32-ounce jugs.

Pea protein isolate, cane sugar, corn starch, and cultured dextrose are all no-nos (a form of sugar).

If a recipe calls for yogurt, any of the brands listed below can be used as a good substitute! If you can’t find any of these brands, use the cream off the top of a can of full-fat coconut milk, then add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to each cup of yogurt to add acidity.

Legumes like chickpeas are forbidden on the Whole30 diet. Avocados, roasted cauliflower, and a few other healthy ingredients can still be used to make a great chickpea-free hummus.

Are bananas Whole30 compliant?

Pickles and bananas are both acceptable on the Whole30 diet. However, if bananas are a possible trigger food for you (for example, the sweetness of the fruit triggers a hunger for other sweets or makes you want to binge on the fruit), you should put them on your “don’t eat” list.

Is popcorn allowed on the Whole30?

No, popcorn is produced from a whole grain (dry corn), and the Whole30 diet forbids grains.

But what do you do if you acquire a yearning for popcorn? I’ve been there, so you can rest assured that I’ve got your back.

Here are 10 Whole30 popcorn substitutes to help you get past your craving and onto a healthier path.

When it comes to the Whole30 diet, oatmeal is regrettably a no-no. If you’re missing a classic, substantial breakfast, try Little Bits Of’s recipe for sweet potat-“oats.” A food processor, a sweet potato, and a banana for sweetness are all you’ll need.
